Nature of Services
Drip Theory provides concierge intravenous (IV) hydration and vitamin therapy services. These are elective wellness services, not emergency medical services. Drip Theory services are designed to supplement, not replace, the care provided by your primary care physician or other healthcare providers.
Drip Theory is a company operating under the medical direction of a medical director (MD) licensed in the United States. All clinical protocols have been developed and are maintained under the MD's oversight. All treatments are administered by licensed Registered Nurses (RNs) or Nurse Practitioners (NPs) operating within their scope of practice and under appropriate medical supervision, which includes a real-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) assessment conducted via live telehealth before every treatment and individual intakes per acquiring patient.
Drip Theory is not a hospital, urgent care facility, emergency room, or primary care provider. Drip Theory does not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications outside the scope of its IV therapy services, or provide ongoing medical management. If you have a medical condition that requires diagnosis, ongoing treatment, or monitoring, consult your physician or appropriate healthcare provider.
Good Faith Examination and Informed Consent
Before any treatment is administered, every Drip Theory patient undergoes a Good Faith Examination (GFE) conducted by a licensed Nurse Practitioner via a live, real-time televisit/telehealth appointment. This examination includes a review of your medical history, current medications, known allergies, and present health status. The Nurse Practitioner uses this information to determine whether IV therapy is safe and appropriate for you and to approve a patient-specific treatment plan.
Additionally, your bedside provider will obtain your vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation, before treatment begins. Your provider will review the treatment plan with you, explain the contents of your IV, describe the potential risks and side effects, and answer any questions you may have before obtaining your informed consent.
You have the right to refuse or withdraw consent for any treatment at any time, including after the treatment has begun. If you choose to discontinue treatment, inform your provider immediately and they will safely remove the IV. Drip Theory will not treat patients under the age of 18.
Risks and Side Effects of IV Therapy
IV therapy is generally considered safe when administered by licensed medical professionals under appropriate medical supervision. However, as with any medical procedure that involves insertion of a needle into a vein and introduction of substances into the bloodstream, there are inherent risks and potential side effects.
Common risks and side effects may include but are not limited to: discomfort, pain, or bruising at the IV insertion site; minor bleeding at the insertion site; inflammation or irritation of the vein (phlebitis); allergic reaction to one or more components of the IV solution, which may include rash, itching, swelling, or in rare cases anaphylaxis; infection at the IV insertion site; a sensation of coolness, warmth, or pressure during the infusion; lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting; nausea or a metallic taste during the infusion; a temporary change in blood pressure or heart rate; fluid overload, particularly in patients with heart or kidney conditions; and infiltration, which occurs when IV fluid leaks into surrounding tissue rather than entering the vein.
Serious complications from IV therapy are rare but can occur. These may include severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), air embolism, nerve damage, or systemic infection. In extremely rare cases, complications from any medical procedure can result in serious injury or death.
Drip Theory takes every reasonable precaution to minimize risk, including conducting a live NP assessment before every treatment, obtaining vital signs, using sterile technique, monitoring patients throughout the infusion, and using only licensed medical professionals to administer all treatments. However, no medical procedure is entirely without risk, and Drip Theory cannot guarantee the absence of any adverse event. If you experience any adverse symptoms during or after your treatment, contact Drip Theory immediately or seek medical attention. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.
Individual Results May Vary
The results of IV therapy vary from person to person and depend on a wide range of individual factors, including but not limited to your overall health, hydration status, nutritional deficiencies, medical history, current medications, and the specific IV treatment received. Drip Theory does not guarantee any specific outcome, result, or benefit from any treatment. Any health-related claims or descriptions of potential benefits on this website are based on generally accepted nutritional science and the clinical experience of our medical team. They are not intended as promises or guarantees of therapeutic outcomes.
